Why Turkey?
Oregano
grows wild in Turkey as the plant thrives in the temperate western and
southwestern Eurasia and Mediterranean regions.
How does it work?
Oregano
is a perennial herb that grows up to 3 feet (1 m) high. It is typically grown
and used for the spice industry. The essential oil is produced through steam
distilling the aerial parts of the plant. It is usually wild-harvested when the
flowers bloom once or twice a year, but it can also be cultivated. Our supplier
works with a network of hundreds of small-scale farmers in Turkey.
