Item Description

This DIY salve is great for dry, cracked skin—a lifesaver for gardeners, crafters, mechanics, or anyone who puts their hands to work and needs some soothing relief.

Here's what you'll need:

  • 5 Tbsp beeswax pellets
  • 1 cup coconut oil
  • 1 cup olive oil
  • Guaiacwood & Copaiba essential oil (10 drops each)
  • 5 vitamin E capsules (acts as a preservative)
  • 2 oz or 4 oz glass jars with lids

Here's how to whip up a batch:

  1. Melt the beeswax, coconut oil, and olive oil together in a large glass measuring cup or jar placed in a pot of simmering water.
  2. While waiting for the ingredients to melt, add the essential oils to your glass jars.
  3. Once melted, test the consistency by dipping a spoon into the mixture and placing it in the freezer for a minute. Adjust thickness by adding more beeswax or oil as desired.
  4. Remove the measuring cup from the water and let it cool slightly.
  5. Add the vitamin E by pricking the capsules with a pin and squeezing the oil into the mixture.
  6. Stir well and pour into the glass jars. This recipe yields exactly eight 2 oz jars of the salve or four 4 oz jars.
