Hinoki Essential Oil Body Butter
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup shea butter
- 1/4 cup coconut oil
- 10 drops Hinoki essential oil
- 5 drops Lavender essential oil
- 5 drops Geranium essential oil
Instructions:
Prepare a Double Boiler: Fill a small pot with a couple of inches of water and place it on the stove over low heat. Place a heat-safe bowl over the pot, creating a double boiler.
Melt Shea Butter and Coconut Oil: Add the shea butter and coconut oil to the heat-safe bowl. Gently melt them, stirring occasionally, until completely melted and well combined.
Cool Slightly: Remove the bowl from the heat and allow the mixture to cool slightly. You can place the bowl in the refrigerator for about 10-15 minutes to speed up the cooling process, but avoid letting it solidify.
Add Essential Oils: Once the mixture is slightly cooled, add 10 drops of Hinoki essential oil, 5 drops of Lavender essential oil, and 5 drops of Geranium essential oil. Stir well to distribute the essential oils evenly.
Whip the Mixture: Using a hand mixer or stand mixer, whip the mixture for several minutes until it becomes light and fluffy. This will incorporate air and create a creamy texture.
Transfer to Container: Spoon the whipped body butter into a clean, airtight container. Glass jars are ideal for preserving the quality of the essential oils.
Allow to Set: Let the body butter sit at room temperature until it solidifies. This may take a few hours, depending on the temperature of your environment.
Use and Enjoy: To use, scoop a small amount of body butter and massage it onto your skin, focusing on dry or rough areas. The body butter will melt upon contact with your skin, providing moisturization and the aromatic benefits of the essential oils.
This DIY body butter combines the nourishing properties of shea butter and coconut oil with the calming effects of Hinoki, Lavender, and Geranium essential oils. It's a luxurious treat for your skin, especially during colder months or when you need some relaxation.
